Responsibilities As an integral member of the Corporate Sustainability team, this role is responsible for leading further development and implementation of the organization's Environmental Social & Governance (ESG) programming within our upstream Value Chain/Supply Chain. The Supply Chain Sustainability Specialist will be responsible for collaborating with a cross-section of internal and external stakeholders to build, review, deploy, and continually improve process and controls across our supplier ESG programming to promote adherence to/alignment with regulatory ESG landscape, leading ESG frameworks, external assurance readiness, and ESG rating indices alike. The role will also actively participate in a variety of assignments and projects relating to/not limited to: supplier engagements, Supply Chain Carbon Committee projects, ESG reporting, assessment and implementation of analytical and visualization tools, process reviews, and other management requested projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Sustainability Specialist (ESG Process & Controls Focus) is responsible for working with different parts of the organization to enhance and/or implement activities related to ESG within our Supplier Risk Management program and platform(s). They will coordinate with other functions as well as suppliers, to achieve certain goals and milestones. This is a critical role as we continue to transform our ESG programming and evaluate ways to implement analytics and automation.
SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
- Ensuring the ESG programming does not compromise flawless execution of health, safety, service quality
- Responsible for understanding and complying with the changing guidance, regulations and applicable frameworks in the ESG space and the impacts to Weatherford's supply chain. This includes controls to ensure data is complete, accurate, and auditable.
- Maintains the highest standards of corporate governance, ensuring that all activities are carried out ethically and in compliance with Company policies and procedures, relevant laws, regulations, standards and industry practices
- Responsible with being familiar with the Company's Security, Compliance & HSE policies and takes an active role in the personal compliance to, as well as improvement of Weatherfords Management System, as it relates to supplier ESG
- Where required in the case of non-conformance, exercises 'Stop Work Authority' to suspend operations
QUALITY
- Responsible for being familiar with the Company's Quality policies and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Weatherford's Management System as it relates to ESG, including programming related to ESG risks in supply chain
- Maintains service quality as immediate priorities when working across all areas of the business
OPERATIONAL CAPABILTY
- Leverages prior experience to support and educate the company as it establishes proper Supplier governance, processes and key controls supporting external reporting and commitments
- Establishing and sustaining mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers on topics related to ESG, with a core focus of topics related Sustainability
- Working closely with business units and supply chain peers to ensure coordinated and consistent engagement with key suppliers, driving positive outcomes
- Leading the successful day-to-day delivery of supplier risk program sustainability services
- Driving the development and/or implementation of supply chain supplier sustainability solutions and processes, ensuring alignment with objectives and business outcomes.
- Developing action plans, timelines, and resource assignments for supplier ESG/sustainability to assure on-time completion and guarantee the business needs are met.
- Communicating ESG risk mitigation strategies to suppliers and following up with implementation results. Serving as the lead during complex projects to assess supplier ESG strategy, risk, and analyze outcomes. Systematically identifying and analyzing risks. Using sound judgment to assess the significance of each risk. Documenting options to deal with the most significant risks.
- Effectively creating and communicating clear plans for change and advocating implementation as a primary change agent in fulfillment of business needs. Facilitating change acceptance in day-to-day work processes, following leading practices and engaging with teams and peers to ensure a cohesive approach to change.
- Working with internal and external stakeholders as appropriate to execute and coach on improvements to climate related metrics and opportunities, using globally and industry accepted methods, frameworks, or regulation (i.e., CSRD, CSDDD, SEC, GHG Protocol, GRI, IPIECA, ISO, SBTi, etc.)
- Recommending enhancements to Weatherford's data collection, reporting methods, and ranking/monitoring improvement strategies for functions/geographies, working closely with internal stakeholders to build business cases and methods to track progress
- Supporting the promotion and raising awareness at multiple levels of the organization, of the impact of emerging environmental issues across the ESG space
- Collaborating with HSE counterparts to align operational environmental requirements to achieve goals
- Other duties (in addition to or in lieu of those described above), as assigned by manager according to the needs of the supply chain Supplier Risk Management Program ESG needs
COMMUNICATION
- Supporting the Sustainability team with ongoing stakeholder communications, including but not limited to operational, and executive leadership progress updates and opportunities
- Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and external
- Interface with manufacturing and operational locations in support of projects
FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE
- Supports the Sustainability and Supply Chain teams, as well as respective project teams with the development and management of any sustainability costs and financial implication
- All employees have an accountability to the organization to be financially responsible whether they are in charge of a function budget or simply their own expenses
- Costs incurred should be within approved budget and processed within agreed time frames and following the relevant financial policy and procedure
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
- Provides coaching and mentoring to internal stakeholders and suppliers to support progress against projects and/or strategies
- Supports the development and delivery of awareness raising communications, and/or training courses for applicable improvement initiatives for both direct audiences and for sharing with the wider-global audience
- Employees have a responsibility for developing their own careers within the Company including completing all necessary function training to enhance their skills and experience
- Completes all assigned Compliance & Company Standards training
- Regular engagement with line manager(s) to discuss personal performance, objectives and opportunities to enhance their skills and experience to support their career potential

- Is an active member of appropriate internal and external ESG and/or professional committees to further contributions to Weatherford's Climate and ESG Strategies
- Ability to communicate ESG related programming needs and influence departmental subject matter experts on the enhancement of sustainability practices, and business cases for change
- Driving culture and change management across the organization for ESG understanding and awareness
Qualifications Experience & Education
REQUIRED
- 3-5 years or more of related professional experience specifically in Supplier Management and/or Supplier ESG
- BS or MS degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or Environmental Engineering / sciences, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- In depth knowledge and/or understanding of environmental related ESG reporting frameworks and or methodologies (GHG Protocol, GRI, SBTi, ISO, CSRD, CSRDDD, SEC, etc.)
- Proven ability to independently manage complex projects and brief senior leadership
- Highly organized with strong project management skills
- Strong influencing, collaboration, oral and written communications skills
- Experience leading and facilitating group process and collaboration, team player
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite including Power Point and Excel)
PREFFERED
- Leverages business intelligence and leading practice supply chain and industry concepts to improve organizational effectiveness.
- Experience with diversity and human rights programming in supply chains
- Familiarity with 3 rd party Supplier Risk Platforms (i.e., Sphera, HICX, Avetta, ISN, etc.)
- Experience in reviewing or developing sustainability clauses in contracts (i.e., suppliers / building leases)
- Experience in developing external Environmental, HSE or Sustainability reports
- Experience with external Assurance Audits
- Sound knowledge or exposure to risk assessment, management and monitoring practices
- Experience in developing process & controls
- Second language (one of the five core Weatherford languages)
