The core products within Power System Integration include the electrical infrastructure design of Vestas power plants; the development of Vestas power plant controllers; electrical simulation models; design of advanced products and solutions for grid integration of Vestas plants. We build on the department's core competencies within Power Systems, Controls and Software Engineering.
Power Plant Integration and Analysis is a team within Power System Integration that is enthusiastic about product design and plant solutions to support Vestas' grid compliance, leveraging our grid analysis capabilities to tackle emerging grid phenomena and other grid integration challenges. We value initiative, taking leadership and being motivated.
Responsibilities As a Student Worker in Power Plant Integration and Analysis, you will be part of a global team that deals with a variety of modern power system phenomena and grid integration solutions. You will be engaged to support Vestas in maintaining its position as an established name in grid integration. Your main responsibilities and tasks will focus on the application of optimization techniques into power system real-world problems, mainly through data-driven techniques. Some of your tasks in this role will include:
- Data analysis for power system applications namely by using machine learning for pattern recognition in and beyond Vestas power plants
- Investigation and development of control methods based on reinforcement learning techniques
- Improve power plant design and electrical performance regarding grid integration capabilities by applying different optimization techniques (e.g. multi-criteria, non-linear, artificial intelligence, ...)
- Bring a strong analytical and data-driven perspective into developing our power plant products and solutions. Build on existing data to generate value by developing further optimized grid support capabilities
- Participate in cross-functional teams, involving several engineering disciplines
Qualifications - Enrolled in a BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related field
- A good knowledge of electrical plant integration into the grid
- Familiar with various data-driven techniques such as unsupervised learning; neural networks and deep learning
- Exposure to AI tools and libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow and Matlab Deep Learning Toolbox
- Knowledgable with various optimization techniques (e.g. discrete optimizations)
