Job Description The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for assisting in providing innovative and cost effective solutions requiring the development of new or improved products, techniques or procedures. The Mechanical Engineer also assist in planning, conducting and evaluating approaches to meeting the project objectives in a timely fashion.
Roles and Responsibilities: - Assist in identifying and organizing requirements. Apply relevant usability procedures and principles.
- Analyze, design, develop, maintain products and assist in their commercialization.
- Build prototypes, products and systems suitable for testing. Set up and run lab simulations. Design and implement tests, document results and develop customer presentations. Provide timely corrective actions on defects.
- Produce analyses and mathematical models and draw design conclusions based on those.
- Utilize knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and design for manufacturability (DfM) in the creation of drawings and specifications to manufacture the product.
- Conduct or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code and other artifacts. Contribute to design standards and support design re-use.
- Analyze the effects of combined loading (Burst/Collapse + Tension/Compression) on sealing and structural components.
- Determine and analyze the critical sections of all downhole equipment components in burst, collapse, tension, and compression.
- Conduct structural analysis of components and products using finite element analysis tools.
- Perform tolerance stack analyses to confirm interaction and function of both static and dynamic parts.
- Create and maintain product documentation. Provide support to field and customers through InTouch. Provide user training as required.
- Assign, direct and review work of technicians and provide guidance to engineers. With seniority, mentor junior engineers.
- Continually evaluate engineering approaches and risks.
- Author technical reports, papers, articles, patents and presentations. Share expertise via Eureka and special interest groups. Expand informal network throughout the organization.
- Keep abreast of novel technical concepts and markets. Adopt new practices readily to develop innovative and low-cost products.
- Maintain familiarity with company technology, organization and business.
- Utilize advanced knowledge of mechanical design analysis and ensure application of relevant downhole completions industry standards (API 11D1, API 19AC, API 19CI, API 14L and NACE).

- Must have a Bachelor's Degree (Masters Preferred), or foreign educational equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering.
- Must have 3 years of post-baccalaureate mechanical engineering design experience - preferred in design of downhole completions products.
- Must be skilled in 3D CAD Software, ideally Creo and have experience in performing calculations using Excel and MathCAD or equivalent.
