Job Description
As the Functional Safety Manager you will be responsible for developing the Functional Safety Plan for the electronic control systems consistent with project and system architecture objectives and focused on international ISO NORMS (ISO 25119 and ISO 13849), acting as safety interface with suppliers, and supporting CNH system engineers to develop technical safety solution for in-home products.• Support the definition and maintenance of the functional safety process.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the design of Functional Safety of the projects consistently with the System Architecture team objectives, giving evidence of the functional safety requirements needs.
• Release and Delivers Functional Safety Plan and if needed Technical Safety Concept including the system requirements and system definitions, Test and Validation specifications for use by internal and external parties such as the software engineers, test engineers, manufacturing engineers and technical publication.
• Benchmark industry standards and determine what standards should be used in the CNH architecture.
• Mentor other EE engineers globally in the understanding of Functional Safety concepts.
• Supports in the interfacing with suppliers to develop the development interface agreement for the functional safety development.
• Support system, software, component engineers to develop/design compliance with the safety standard.
• Develop system and software documentation standards
Skill Set
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering • 5+ years Professional engineering background in product development • 3+ years specific experience in releasing functional safety documentation (development and assessment) • 3+ years Knowledge of Functional Safety Theory with specific on-the-job experience and knowledge of industry standards for functional safety • 3+ implementation of complex electronic control systems (e.g. ISO 61508, ISO 13849, ISO 25119, ISO 26262, EN 50128, etc.) and Understanding of EE Systems Engineering Process ("V" model preferred) and formal system development processes skills, focused on functional safety, proved by participation to the complete development cycle of at least one system development. • 1+ years of active usage of Advanced Documentation Management Systems such as DOORS or Polarion • 1+ years of active usage of FMEA, FTA techniques Preferred Qualifications: • Master's or other advanced degree preferred • Specific functional safety experience in the implementation at engineering level with ISO 13849 and ISO 25119 • Competent and aware of current state-of-the-art EE technologies and is eager to stay expert in his/her domain of technology • CAN based on road and off-road vehicle EE architectures and system implementations • Virtual prototyping MIL / SIL / HIL principles programming C(++) code, and structured software programming • Knows UML approach for model base design • Knowledge of scripting language • Experience with Vector tools: Canalizer, Canoe • Experience working with and actively participating in industry consortiums to define global standards • Experience with CAN bus, SAE J1939, KWP2000, UDS protocols • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a wide variety of people, maintain good eye contact, write clearly and succinctly, demonstrate a varied vocabulary and tailor his/her own language to the audience. Can get the messages across with less chance of misunderstanding.
