Job Overview

We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to build out a preliminary data warehouse in PostgreSQL, initially sourcing data from SQL Server (as well as other sources). In this crucial role, you will design, create, and code the necessary facts and dimensions tables, ensuring they are optimized for utilization in reports to help guide the business. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with various stakeholders across the organization to understand and fulfill their data requirements. As our platform evolves, this role will expand to integrate data from a variety of additional sources, further enhancing our data capabilities and supporting our strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

Design and implement a data warehouse using PostgreSQL, integrating data from SQL Server and other services.
Develop and maintain robust ETL processes to populate and update the warehouse.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure the data architecture meets business needs.
Create facts and dimensions tables that are structured for efficient querying and reporting.
Ensure data integrity and accuracy across all stored data.
Expand the data warehouse to include data from multiple sources as per organizational growth needs.
Optimize database performance through regular maintenance, tuning, and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience in database design and data warehouse implementation, preferably with PostgreSQL.
Experience with SQL Server and familiarity with ETL processes.
Experience with AWS services including serverless architectures, S3, and managing Node.js applications.
Proficiency with AWS QuickSight for creating and managing business intelligence and data visualizations.
Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders to gather requirements.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of Kimball warehouse methodologies.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proactive in learning and integrating new data sources into the existing system.
Proficiency in data modeling and understanding of data normalization and dimensional modeling.
Expertise in utilizing cloud-based solutions for scalable and efficient data handling.

Working Conditions

Location: Richmond, Virginia.
Schedule: This is a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days of office presence each week to facilitate team collaboration.
Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the USA as HiBid does not sponsor work visas.
