GENERAL SUMMARY: Junior Engineer with 1-5 years of experience. Experience may have been obtained during college coursework.
LOCATION: Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock, West Bethesda, MD.
Must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance. US Citizenship is a prerequisite.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform hands-on polymer materials engineering in support of the US Navy.
- Work side-by-side with other engineers and technician personnel developing, testing, and integrating advanced polymer materials.
- Develop new non-metallic materials for specific mission requirements and develop or manage processing technologies that will be used to produce components for Navy systems.
- Work with analytical equipment to develop and characterize advanced polymeric materials and adhesives.
- The selectee may also be involved in the development of next-generation composites, bearings, acoustic materials, polymeric batteries, and electromagnetic materials.
EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:
- BS Engineering Required (Polymer Science and Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Chemical Engineering preferred)
- Undergraduate laboratory research experience required.
- Must have a demonstrated interest in hands-on work through laboratory research or work experience.
- Demonstrated leadership traits through task supervision or social/athletic group membership.
