This position is part of the growing Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Team within NextEra Energy's Power Generation Division (PGD).
The PGD-RNG Sr. Operations Engineer must have solid written and verbal communication, technical, and analytical skills. The PGD-RNG Sr. Operations Engineer should possess extensive knowledge and experience with all aspects of Turnaround Planning and scheduled plant outages and must demonstrate a strong aptitude in mechanical work, understands relevant regulatory requirements, and is experienced in managing teams of multiple resources on Turnaround activities
The ideal candidate will need to be commercially minded, detailed oriented with strong analytical abilities, and be able to approach projects with creativity and entrepreneurial thinking. The individual will interface with multiple organizations within and outside of the division they support. The ability to build consensus and make quick, accurate and fact-based decisions is critical to success. Experience in a matrix environment is a strong plus, as is a high tolerance for uncertainty and flexibility to deal with unanticipated deliverables and tight deadlines.
Position Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
• Provides assessments of operating plants
• Creates production profiles used for financial analysis and budget setting
• Performs plant operation reviews and collaborates on root cause analysis
• Oversees and aligns with the Optimization Engineers & develops techniques or process to mitigate production variances or predictions
• Performs month-end performance reporting and collection of input data from other business units
• Including visible, proactive leadership in all matters related to safety, cost, and productivity
• Develop/coordinate all major RNG outages for all maintenance and construction projects
• Support the annual budget process and monthly reviews, as required
• Ensure value added work orders are seamless integration with Maintenance
• Ensure all appropriate work processes are followed
• Act as a technical resource for NEE RNG Team to ensure compliance with NEE and jurisdiction requirements pertaining to inspections (AP 501/etc.), & repairs. Position includes a responsibility to maintain an up-to-date and viable technology base.
• Serves as a liaison for Equipment Owners to interface between Engineering Services, and Plant personnel.
• Drive inspection compliance for RNG plants during Turnaround activities
• Demonstrates a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding extensive engineering programs and activities
• Manages one or more programs of complex diversity and scope which are of critical importance to overall company objectives
• Develop flow enhancement production solutions for physical or potential assets (or portfolio of assets)
• Prepares documentation, technical reports, quantitative analyses, and presentation material for internal and external use
• Supports collaborations in cross-functional workstreams
• Liaison between Reliability/Optimization members & Site Ops Leader
• Project owner from budget request stage to closeout
• Ensure all site milestones & deliverables are met in the planning-execution thru closeout of the TAR
• Validates work scopes, work with site to load projects into schedule
• Ensure required work scopes are loaded in appropriate WBS Structure for proper allocation
• Manages Turnaround/ RNG Outages Budgets and Schedule
• Works closely with RNG Site Team to ensure project accuracy, vets project for correct work duration, scope & preliminary estimates
• Validate Preventative Maintenance Schedules and Optimizations measures prior to TAR (Scope and Frequency) can we defer till TAR
• Ensure compliance with all major maintenance deliverables
• MOC Champion when required
• Works with the Site and Leads planning to ensure asset reliability will be met
• Oversees all aspects of RNG operation deliverables and process including Operational assessments, budget support
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
• Build and develop the annual and 5-year outage plan
• Develops execution Schedules and is Champion of the Schedule
• Maintain close working relationships with customers and stakeholders
• Strictly follow and enforce Company safety policies and administer Company policies and procedures with direct reports, contractors, and vendors.
• Develops work scope/plans for the outage maintenance mechanical, electrical and inspection projects
Preferred Qualifications
• Accreditation from a professional organization and/or continued education classes supporting GCCS design, operations and maintenance are considered a strong plus.
• Significant analytical skillset
• Able to solve complex problems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to build relationships.
• Strong influencing and interpersonal skills
• Six Sigma Certification; Yellow Belt or higher
