Job Overview: We are seeking four experienced
Senior SQL Server DBAs for an exciting opportunity with a prestigious financial institution. This is a 1-year renewable contract role with an immediate start date, subject to a brief administrative pause.
Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with a global DBA team to ensure that new database code adheres to high standards for readability, reliability, and performance.
- Provide weekly performance insights by identifying the top 10 most resource-intensive queries and suggesting optimization strategies.
- Design and optimize indexes for existing applications, and offer actionable recommendations when users report performance issues.
- Conduct SQL Server lunch-and-learn sessions to support application developers.
- Advise on efficient database designs, including table structures, datatypes, stored procedures, and functions.
- Engage in on-call troubleshooting for SQL Server service outages and determine the best high availability strategies (e.g., clustering, log shipping, mirroring, replication).
Required Skills & Experience: - Finance Experience: Demonstrated experience working within the financial services sector (Banks) is essential.
- Database Administration:
- Minimum of 10+ years in general database administration (implementation, code deployments, backups, and user account creation).
- At least 7+ years as a SQL Server DBA with 5+ years focusing on advanced platform features (clustering, encryption, standby configurations, ETL, replication, and performance optimization).
- Proven track record in administering databases with sizes of 30TB or larger is absolutely required.
- Technical Expertise:
- Proficient with MS SQL Server 2014 through 2019, including SSIS package creation and debugging, stored procedure development/tuning, and data replication techniques.
- Extensive experience in Level 3 (highest level) support within a banking environment (at least 4+ years since 2016).
- Adept at using performance tools (e.g., Profiler traces, sp_BlitzIndex®, DMV queries) and skilled in both SQL development and troubleshooting.
