Pre-assembly of offshore wind turbines aims to optimize the use of installation vessels reducing the number of lifts needed in offshore conditions and ensure the assets mechanical completion is achieved in a controlled environment. Pre-assembly of offshore wind turbines consists of mounting several towers sections at a quayside to be ready for nacelle installation, perform nacelle pre-commissioning and load-out the components to the offshore installation vessels.
Responsibilities
- Work with site leadership to execute all contractual obligations and activities set forth with the customers daily, which can include any portion of the electrical, mechanical or hydraulic equipment on site.
- Perform repairs or replacements of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components to correct malfunctions.
- Perform large component exchanges on Wind Turbine Generators (WTG)
- Conduct maintenance of equipment (Cleaning, greasing, lubrication, etc.).
- Perform nacelles and blades preparations.
- Supervise stack of the blades, inspect blades sea-frame and pre-load sea-frames.
- Lead and assist with other daily work activities, related to all areas of site operations, as directed by manager, with minimal supervision.
- Coordinate with engineering support team when in need of additional troubleshooting/ diagnostic assistance.
- Complete and maintain required company and client documentation and records, using computer-based service reporting tools and procedures.
- Clean and organize tools, equipment, and work area including sweeping, mopping, wiping oil, grease, solvent spills.
- Prepare transition piece, tools, equipment and components during loadout and pre-assembly, as well as set punch lists during pre-assembly stage for further stages carry over.
- Keep and maintain accurate logbooks, documentation and reports as required by company policy
- Supervise and conduct the training of new colleagues / 3rd party employees
- Ensure that work is conducted according to the defined workflow and work instructions
- Act as signaler in accordance with work instructions, checklists and lift plans
- Support small teams
- Keep up to date with all required training as defined by your role profile.
Qualifications
- Technical degree education on mechanical or electrical, with knowledge of operation of WTG systems such as Pitch system, Yaw system, cooling circuits, elevator, hydraulic systems.
- Professional English communications skills (verbal, effective listening, written, meeting management, presentation)
- Good IT skills (SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SAP)
- Willingness to relocate to Taiwan and flexibility to travel abroad to other regions within APAC
- Minimum 5 years construction and commissioning experience, e.g. in a related energy, oil and gas, industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Minimum 3 years' experience with wind power turbines and skilled to troubleshoot.
- Experience working with labor union workforce
- Technical background, electrical, mechanical, or rotating heavy equipment; knowledge of technical drawings and schematics preferred. Ability to understand and utilize technical language.
- Skilled familiarity with power generation language and key terminology
- Skilled experience on Mechanical & Electrical activities and hydraulic systems
- Familiar with OSHA and standard site safety regulations
- Proven experience with subcontractor management
- Effective change and conflict management.
- Function effectively in a time-sensitive setting in environments
- Experience in working effectively with work groups across a global organization
- Strong interpersonal skills and are able to motivate and encourage the team to deliver the best possible results.
- Ability to prepare and follow Tests and documentation check lists, test plans.

- Knowledge of specification, design, maintenance, construction and commissioning of wind industry and offshore industry.
