Region APC > Construction & Operations APAC > APAC Offshore EPCI Technical SupportPre-assembly of offshore wind turbines aims to optimize the use of installation vessels reducing the number of lifts needed in offshore conditions and ensure the assets mechanical completion is achieved in a controlled environment. Pre-assembly of offshore wind turbines consists of mounting several towers sections at a quayside to be ready for nacelle installation, perform nacelle pre-commissioning and load-out the components to the offshore installation vessels.
Responsibilities - Perform commissioning tasks within pre-assembly
- On-site supervision of new and less experienced supervisors and technicians
- Implement WTG testing
- Troubleshoot, operate, and maintain WTG's
- Identify, register, and coordinate deviations
- Compliance with Vestas' Health & Safety, Quality, Operational procedures and ensure PPE is always inspected and certified
- Daily monitoring of operations, and remote fault finding via online systems
- Raising work orders, NCRs, quality cases, and learning opportunities
- Reviewing and approving work orders, material consumption,
- Ensure documentation is correctly filled out
- Daily coordination of work scopes for your Technician's, perform Pre-Task Brief/Toolbox talk and collaborating with support functions and colleagues.
- Perform hands-on work along with the teams to ensure all Pre. Commissioning tasks are carried out effectively
- Report documentation and technical issues including suggestions for improvements to the relevant managers
- Rectify defects during the pre-commissioning process
- Conduct Pre commissioning inspections to ensure turbine readiness.
- Order parts required for repair through site management.
- Report quality deviations and fix minor quality issues (e.g. cabling problems) upon identification
- Forward commissioning report for the converter to the converter manufacture (for warranty reasons).
- Capture data and parameters prior to operational release and send to the Head of Commissioning.
- Carry out independent fault analysis and repair minor faults to the equipment, with feedback to the Site Manager.
- Coordinate with the Site Manager the activities related to the switch-on and switch-off operations of the WTG/WF.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Electro Technical Officer (ETO STCW III/6) is required.
- Professional English communications skills (verbal, advanced listening, written, meeting management, presentation)
- Good IT skills (SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SAP)
- Willingness to relocate to Taiwan and flexibility to travel abroad to other regions within APAC.
- Minimum 5 years construction and commissioning experience, e.g. in a related energy, oil and gas, industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Minimum 3 years' experience with wind power turbines and skilled to troubleshoot.
- Experience working with labor union workforce
- Technical background, electrical, mechanical, or rotating heavy equipment; knowledge of technical drawings and schematics preferred. Ability to understand and utilize technical language.
- Skilled familiarity with power generation language and key terminology
- Skilled experience on Mechanical & Electrical activities and hydraulic systems
- Familiar with OSHA and standard site safety regulations
- Proven experience with subcontractor management
- Effective change and conflict management.
- Function effectively in a time-sensitive setting in environments
