SLB is seeking an enthusiastic Intellectual Property (IP) Attorney to join our team in The Hague, Netherlands.
Role Overview: - New Application Filing Support (35%): Prepare and file EP/GB patent applications, coordinating with global IP attorneys. SLB files a large number of EP and GB patent applications each year, the vast majority of which are to be considered as Paris Convention or PCT National Phase validations of first filed US applications. While the Attorney will not be responsible for the substantive preparation of the EP/UK application, they will need to coordinate with the other SLB in-house IP Attorneys (located WW) who prepared the first filings, in order to prepare the filing packages for EP/UK.
The Attorney should aspire to be considered the SLB subject matter expert on EP and GB patent filing practices and procedures. As such, the Attorney should be comfortable providing explanation and counseling to their fellow SLB IP Attorney colleagues as to best practices for these jurisdictions.
- Prosecution & Docket Management (55%): Manage EP/GB patent dockets cost-effectively. Develop prosecution strategies, prepare responses, and handle direct filings. Identify matters to outsource to preferred external counsel as needed.
- Process Improvement (10%): Propose and implement improvements for cost-saving and process streamlining in patent filing and prosecution.
Location: Our officies at Parkstraat 83-89 in The Hague, the Netherlands. The location is one of SLB's Corporate Headquarters, and houses our Treasury and Corporate teams, as well as the HQ staff for our World Wide Engineering and Manufacturing functions.
Requirements: - EP patent license (European qualifying exam passed)
- UK patent license preferred
- Technical background in Mechanical, Chemical, Digital, or Mechatronics
- 3-5 years of preparation/prosecution experience
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English
