If you have pulp and paper mill experience that is a plus, but not a deal breaker. This is a brand new facility that will be starting up production at the end of March. Summary
This position is responsible for delivering a breakthrough step change in asset performance while driving costs down to world class levels through continuous improvement in close partnership with the Operations & Engineering team at the manufacturing site. You’ll lead the reliability personnel in developing the management infrastructure for maintenance including, Preventative Maintenance Optimization, Condition Based Monitoring, Daily Accountability processes, work management and down management. This position is responsible for establishing standards for the day-to-day tasks associated with maintenance and reliability perform throughout the site and checking the execution of those standards to drive continuous improvement efforts in asset reliability. The work you do will have a direct impact on plant reliability leading to improved OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and greater ability to achieve other plant objectives like ATS (Adherence to Schedule).
Responsibilities:
- Support the loss control improvement process by complying with critical safety rules.
- Visibly demonstrate that safety is a value by following safety procedures, maintaining a safe workplace, and complying with safety rules.
- Ensure that the development of processes, standards and equipment meets safety codes, policies, and guidelines.
- Support improvement initiatives towards process capability and precision maintenance work execution.
- Provide resources and systems to align equipment, products, processes, materials, systems, and procedures to achieve business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Build capability within the Reliability team in the areas of predictive solutions and technology and the management infrastructure to sustain, among others.
- Build the reliability knowledge and capability of others in the manufacturing facility.
- Provide tactical leadership for day-to-day reliability systems development.
- Lead efforts within the Reliability team in OPEX (operational excellence) continuous improvement.
- Work with team to establish Preventive and Predictive maintenance tasks based on criticality.
- Work with team to routinely optimize PM tasks on an annual basis.
- Develop condition-based maintenance system that shifts work from preventive based maintenance to condition-based maintenance when possible.
- Develop daily meeting structure for maintenance personnel that enables development and execution of maintenance plan for the day and plan for the week and a process to escalate when necessary.
- Work with Plant Reliability Manager to standardize planning and scheduling practices and provide coaching and capability development with SAP.
- Maintain mill SAP Master Data and collaborate with capital teams to ensure new projects are set up in SAP in a timely manner.
- Work with Operations to apply Autonomous Care Improvement Team and Quick Change (SMED) principles and provide coaching and capability development.
- Work with Operations to develop and continually optimize asset down management process. Develop and continually optimize the down management standard for mill outages.
- Provide monthly analytics for PM completion. Check the health of the processes in Maintenance quarterly and work with teams on adjustments.
- Work with Plant Reliability Manager to establish Leader Standard Work to daily and weekly routines.
- Work with staff teams to ensure mill input is considered for Design for Reliability efforts and new projects meet mill reliability requirements.
- Manage a mill PM down and annual outage calendar.
- Develop training plans and coordinate with appropriate internal or external training to facilitate skills development of team.
- Support development of strategic plans for reliability improvements in the facility.
- Update and publish dashboard indicating health and value delivery of plant reliability systems (top-line reporting).
- Through tactical execution of daily activities support efforts to deliver 3% year on year reduction in spending by embracing and fostering a culture of loss prevention and control to drive continuous improvement in the reduction of breakdowns and other losses across the site asset base.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant scientific discipline.
- 5+ years of equivalent related experience in an engineering or reliability role.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, influence and lead a multi-functional team and foster a proactive team environment without direct authority.
- Ability to successfully work independently and manage projects.
