Position Overview: We are seeking a Data Engineer to develop, optimize, and maintain data pipelines that collect, process, and analyze data from various sources. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL Server. You will play a key role in ensuring our data infrastructure scales seamlessly as we expand, while maintaining strict compliance with healthcare regulations like HIPAA.
Key Responsibilities: Data Integration
- Data Pipeline Development: design, build and maintain scalable, automated data pipelines to enable Reporting, Data Visualization, Advanced Analytics, and Machine Learning solutions.
- Data Integration: integrate structured and unstructured data from multiple sources, including databases, APIs, flat files, and third-party vendors, into centralized data lake and data warehouse. Write high-performance SQL queries to extract, transform, and load data from various sources
- Data Quality: Implement data validation, cleansing, and monitoring processes to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of healthcare data
Database Optimization
- Assist development teams on level 3 DB work (new project DB design and architecture, review and approve PRs for DB code, maintain Dev/Test environments)
- Drive performance optimization initiatives, including indexing strategies, query tuning, and schema and data model optimizations
- Collaborate and partner with development teams to standardize DB Tools (e.g. SSDT) and implement version and source control for DB code
Production Support
- Assist with production support for Azure SQL and Azure Data Factory infrastructure including monitoring, performance tuning, security and backup/recovery
- Implement high-availability and disaster recovery solutions
Qualifications
- 4 years’ experience data pipeline (ETL/ELT) development using Azure Data Factory and Azure Cloud data technologies.
- 4 years’ experience with Azure SQL (or SQL Server) including design, development, implementation, maintenance and performance monitoring of database instances.
- Proven expertise in SQL query optimization, performance tuning, indexing strategies, and schema design.
- Experience with production support (monitoring, security, backup/recovery)
Preferred Skills
- Experience implementing HA/DR solutions for Azure SQL Databases
- Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Entra, RBAC and encryption models for data security and access controls
- Experience with SSDT (SQL Server Data Tools) and implementing versioning control for DB code
- Knowledge of data modeling and data warehousing, familiarity with Azure Synapse Analytics or Fabric
- Experience with Python and Azure Functions for data processing and manipulation
