Duties And ResponsibilitiesPurpose
Oceaneering Mobile Robotics (OMR) develops, implements and services Automated Guided Vehicle Systems (AGVs) for various logistic applications worldwide. Our innovative logistic solutions, centered on AGVs, provide our high-end customers the reliability and flexibility needed to support their mission-critical operations.
As a Mechanical Engineer you will apply a working knowledge of engineering fundamentals to OMR engineering and design activities under the direction of a Senior Engineer. The Mechanical Engineer interacts with all OMR departments as necessary to support the design, production, integration, programming, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of AGV systems both in the factory and in the field.
Functions
ESSENTIAL
- Complete engineering tasks that may include a variety of complex features and design requirements.
- Technically manage projects of small scope.
- Ensure that customer requirements are systematically converted into total system solutions.
- Support the Systems Engineering Program in accordance with customer/project requirements, including the performance of hazard analyses and FMEAs.
- Develop and recommend design approaches for new or improved products or processes. Consolidate results of mechanical design elements for assigned projects.
- Demonstrate good technical judgment, independent evaluation, and ingenuity.
- Devise innovative solutions to problems.
- Conduct technical investigations involving the origination or modification of material, component, or process specifications and requirements.
- Generate work instructions and test procedures.
- Prepare reports and present results to management and clients.
- Evaluate vendor capability to provide required products or services.
- Occasional work outside normal working hours should be anticipated.
- Domestic and international travel may be required.

QualificationsREQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
- 0-5 years of practical experience in mechanical engineering.
- Able to interact with customer representatives.
- Proficiency in the application of current engineering software (i.e. SolidWorks, Matlab, etc).
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Good technical writing skills.
- Able to apply a working knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of mechanical engineering and an understanding of related engineering fields.
- Good hands-on abilities for assembling mechanical components.
DESIRED
Master's degree in related field.
Work experience in mobile machine design.
