Southern Glazer offers a competitive compensation package with an annual salary of $70,000-$115,000 plus incentives. In determining a final offer, the company will evaluate a specific candidate's education, skills, and experience and will make an offer appropriately.
This is a remote position and can reside in the central and western areas of the US close to a major airport. Travel is required 30% (can be more during peak times).

Overview:
Responsible for managing material handling projects from conception to implementation. This includes designing the appropriate material handling solution by collaborating with the warehouse management personnel and the vendors, implementation such solutions, and Improving existing solutions. Traditional project management functions such as timelines, budgets and coordination with vendors and other groups within Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits are also the responsibility of the Distribution Engineer.
Primary Responsibilities:

Establish design criteria and overall system performance criteria for the Material Handling System Project by analyzing the data and input from the management.

Prepare a Request for Proposal (RFP) based on the established criteria.

Develop ROI models for the investments and present the data to Management.

Research new technologies in the distribution field and recommend solutions that would improve existing processes.

Collaborate with material handling equipment (MHE) vendors for solution development and design.

Assist with the overall layout and system design process.

Technical project management and implementation.

Manage budget, timeline, and scope.

Communicate with internal and external stakeholders and vendors about project status, critical items, and priorities.

Act as support during installation and start-up.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).

2 plus years of experience in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or similar industry.

Competency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) and Database software. (required)

Strong organizational skills with a focus on project needs and deadlines.

Willingness to travel to project sites upon request (Up to 30%).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Knowledge of Warehouse Software applications (SAP WM and/or Manhattan).

Experience with industrial automation, conveyor and sortation systems, and material handling equipment or similar systems.

Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or mobile device.

Physical demands with activity or condition may include occasional to rare amounts of time including walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping.

It may require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 50lbs.
