1099 Subcontractor Position!
Are you someone who thrives working for yourself? If you’re looking for a production-based role that offers autonomy and variety, LightPath has the perfect opportunity for you! As a Traveling Field Engineer, you’ll be responsible for managing projects across the U.S. in the telecommunications industry, ensuring that data is accurately documented and utilities are surveyed to meet client needs. If you have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the drive to succeed, we can teach you the technical skills you need!
What You’ll Do:
- The role of a Field Engineer in Telecommunications is to be a utility surveyor and gather critical field data for communications networks. This includes digital maps, notes, forms, and digital software applications, all which we teach at a week-long orientation. It sounds complicated, but it's not!
- As the eyes in the field, you’ll provide critical information to ensure project accuracy and completeness.
- Travel is required for this role, and you’ll need to stay organized, efficient, and focused while working across different territories.
- As a 1099 Subcontractor, you’ll manage your own schedule, taxes, and workload. Staying disciplined will be key to your success.
Who We Want: If you are someone who is motivated, self-sufficient, and committed to hitting the goals you set, this could be the role for you. As a 1099 Subcontractor, you have the ability to create your own schedule to produce your work. This role involves fieldwork: observing, recording, and documenting data, so attention to detail is essential. You’ll need a reliable vehicle for travel and the ability to work independently in different environments. If you’re someone who can take ownership of your tasks and consistently meet high standards without needing constant oversight, you’re exactly the type of person we’re looking for.
Requirements:
- Willingness to travel extensively (this position is 100% travel).
- BE FLEXIBLE! Changes come with this work environment, so stay willing and ready!
- A reliable, well-maintained vehicle that is clean and ready for the road.
- Ability to adapt to various project locations across the U.S.
- A desire to learn and grow in your role.
- Strong observation, problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to learn new software and technologies.
- Ability to deal with challenges while keeping a positive attitude.
- Enjoy working outdoors.
- Must be able to walk up to 5 miles per day (at times).
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
- Can pass a criminal background and drug screen.
- Must be highly responsible and self-motivated.
- Must be a fully legal US Citizen.
- Military veterans are encouraged to apply.
